Help & FAQ
Using the map
- How do I find free places?
- Open the map, open Filters, and switch on “Free” under Price. You can combine that with a vehicle type so you only see spots your van actually fits into.
- What do the different pin colours mean?
- Dark green is an official campsite, mid green a campervan stop, sage green a service point or nature spot, sand a featured listing, and charcoal an overnight parking area. Each pin also carries a different glyph, so the categories are distinguishable without relying on colour.
- Can I use Kamping offline?
- Not yet. The website needs a connection. Saved places live in your browser, so they survive a reload but not a different device. Offline maps are on the roadmap after the mobile app.
Places and accuracy
- A listing is wrong or the place has closed.
- Use “Report incorrect information” at the bottom of the listing. Reports about safety, closure or legality are reviewed first, usually within 24 hours.
- How is legal status decided?
- It is community-reported and then checked by a moderator against public information. It is never a guarantee. Always check signage and local rules on site.
- Why is my submitted place still pending?
- Every new location is reviewed by a human before publication, normally within 48 hours. Locations inside protected areas or on private land take longer because we verify the permission claim.
Accounts
- Is an account required?
- No. Browsing, searching and viewing every listing is free and open. An account is only needed to save places, write reviews, upload photos or submit a new location.
- How do I delete my account and data?
- Traveler dashboard → Delete account. Your profile, saved places and personal data are removed and published reviews are anonymised. You can export your data first.
For hosts
- How do I claim a listing that already exists?
- Open the listing and use “Claim this place”, or go straight to the claim page. We verify by phone callback to the number publicly associated with the business.
- Does Kamping take commission?
- No. Listing plans are flat annual fees and every booking you take is yours in full.
- What is Kamping Manager?
- A separate product: the campsite management application that handles bookings, guests, pitches, payments and daily operations once travelers arrive. It connects to your directory listing but keeps operational data private.
