Overview

Six pitches on a terrace between the walnut trees, run by a family who have farmed this slope for four generations. It is not a campsite in the commercial sense — there is one shower, one toilet, and a tap — but it is clean, safe and about as authentic as the Drino valley gets.

Breakfast is available if you ask the night before: bread, cheese, honey from their hives and coffee. The family sells olive oil, walnuts and raki, none of it pushed.

Gjirokastër's bazaar and castle are a twenty-minute walk uphill, or three minutes by car. The site is a good base for the Blue Eye, Antigonea and the Zagoria valley.

Private land with permission. Ask the owner before you stay. Permission is personal, not automatic.

Directions and road access

The lane from the Gjirokastër bypass is concrete but only 2.6 m wide with a stone wall on one side. Vehicles over 2.4 m wide should call ahead — the family will meet you at the junction.

  • This is a working farm — please do not walk through the vegetable terraces.
  • The dog is friendly but works at night. Do not feed him.

    Das Frühstück allein ist die Anfahrt wert. Nur eine Dusche, aber wir waren zu viert und es hat gereicht. Die Burg nachts von der Terrasse — unvergesslich.
